Panchayath

A Panchayat is a body of elected representatives chosen to execute the administrative functions of Panchayati Raj institutions. In the case of a Grama Panchayat, it is the primary committee responsible for implementing the decisions of the Grama Sabha and managing day-to-day administration.Puthuppady Grama Panchayat is divided into a total of 24 wards. The elected public representatives from these wards constitute what is known as the Panchayat of Puthuppady Grama Panchayat. In the year 2025, among the members of Puthuppady Grama Panchayat, Biju Thannikkakuzhi serves as the Grama Panchayat President, and Najmunnisa Shareef serves as the Grama Panchayat Vice President, handling the administration.

History of Grama Panchayat

In earlier times, regions of this Panchayat such as Adivaram, Chippilithode, Churam, and Kaithappoyil were under the possession of Koyappathodi; Manalvayal, Valliyad, and Mooppankuzhi were in the possession of Murukkan; Engapuzha, Kakkavayal, and Mailallampara were held by M. C. Pothan and M. C. Chandy; and the Malappuram region was under the ownership of R. Marakkar Haji.
